Hello community,
I have a question regarding POP3 protocol handling by Gateway. I configure mine to user POP3 protocol in direct and through XSR modes. I see neither Gateway, nor XSR listening on port 109 (no option to define port number for POP3 in gatesetup) Are they supposed to? Does that mean inetd/pop should not run on a Unix server where Gateway or XSR are installed?(!) Thanks for any hints. |

In gateway 6.9 (I don't know for newer version), you must use a pop3 server to use POP3 protocol. XFB Gateway don't have/isn't a POP3 server. To receive mail from a POP3 server, you must define a remote site with the address of the POP3 server and the polling interval. Transferts are automaticaly created when a message is retreive from the POP3 server. |

I see this "Qpopper starting" in the logs POP I CONN_ACK NISDRAZ(39885) [0] connection established. +OK Qpopper (version 4.0.9) at dmz1 starting. Qpopper is a famous open source pop3 server. So the Gateway seems to carry its own pop3 server.. intetd/pop is running on dmz1. So you're saying Gateway is using Qpopper as a pop3 client? When Master Agent says it established connection to dmz1:109, its actually the Router Agent's log? I'm a little confused |

But in SP6, the documentation hasn't changed and inidcate: QUOTE (XFB Gateway 6.9 sp6 ihm documentation : SMTP/POP3 Configuration) XFB Gateway 6.70 does not include SMTP and POP3 server functions. You must use XFB Gateway in conjunction with both an SMTP and POP3 server. Perhaps, the best is to ask this on Axway's support. regards, |

Thank you for the clarification Alain. Were can I find the XFB Gateway 6.9 sp6 ihm documentation? The documentation is integrated with XFB Gateway Navigator. You can have this also in the Axway support Site / Documentation / Advanced Search => the file is " XFB Gateway V6.9 Online documentation " |
