Hi,
The default value is 0, i think it means 5 default, even if i change it to 10, the MBC always behave strangely, By strangely I mean the several instances of my MBC execute in parallel. So I have to set it to 1, I think this will limit the MBC execute session just to 1, is that right ? Well, now the MBC execute correctly, but i don't konw why this is happening, what other consequent effect will this provoke? This is too botherring. Jim |

Hi bluefisher80,
I just had a quick look in the "System and Administration Manager" manual and guess what? NOTHING about this "Max Number of Sessions" option! It's probably a not-very-well-hidden feature. It is weird that the default value apparently is '5'. but the GUI says '0' Maybe someone from Axway can enlighten us about this? Since i'm also interested in what it's supposed to do. |

If not this way, I have to give up my complex MBC program which is important for our business model. and this session number if > 0, will lead my MBC works quite abnormal. |

Hi, Apparently, i am not just curious about this. If not this way, I have to give up my complex MBC program which is important for our business model. and this session number if > 0, will lead my MBC works quite abnormal. This is described in the System and Administration Manager manual (sysman.pdf) on page 146 (June 2005 version) Using the “Max nr of sessions” parameter The HME configuration parameter, “Max nr of sessions” may have a great impact on performance. This parameter specifies how many messages can be open for processing at the same time. During processing of a message, there are points when the HME is waiting for replies from other programs in XIB. At those points the HME retrieves another message from the queue and begins processing until there is a new point of waiting for a reply. The HME will retrieve as many messages as the “Max nr of sessions” parameter specifies. When you have small messages that take short time to process, the value of this parameter is not crucial since the HME will be able to finish the processing of each individual message even if there are many messages open. If the messages are large and take a long time to process, the value of this parameter must to be low. Otherwise, the HME will continue retrieving messages from the queue without finishing the processing of the previous messages. The processing time for each message depends on size and the complexity of conversion programs. Complex conversion programs take longer time to process. As a guideline, the parameter setting for the HME processing messages bigger than 500 kByte should be 1. For the HME processing small messages the parameter should be between 5-10. |

This is also described on pages 153-154 of the December 2006 release of the Sysman manual (AA-1007-14)
